As time passed by, Chopper became acquainted with the other members of the Lothal rebel cell: the former Jedi Padawan Kanan Jarrus, the Lasat Garazeb Orrelios, and the Mandalorian teenager Sabine Wren. The astromech droid modified the ship's systems to the extent that only he could interact with the ship's computer. When Hera acquired the Ghost, Chopper was charged with maintaining the ship. When Hera left Ryloth to join the rebellion, Chopper followed his master off-world. Due to the death of her mother and her father's neglect, Hera came to devote more time to Chopper than her own father which strained relations between father and daughter. Cham came to devote more time to the Resistance's cause of freeing Ryloth and neglected his own family, particularly Hera. Chopper's battered and buggy new body left him with a cranky personality, though he became very loyal to his new master Hera for saving him.įollowing the Clone Wars, the Galactic Republic became the Galactic Empire, which refused to leave Ryloth. Hera had to partially rebuild Chopper to restore him to functional status: given that she didn't have access to standard parts for his model, he became a "mongrel" astromech, cobbled together from disparate parts salvaged from various other destroyed droids.
